Best Dog-Friendly Breweries in the South Bay LA Area

Cheers to beers and our pups! Do you love checking out and enjoying local breweries? I do! What’s even better? Bring your pups along to have some fun. My dog loves it when we bring her with us. Obviously, she doesn’t get to enjoy any brews, but she enjoys getting out, spending time with us, and getting pets from new friends. I expect this list will continue to grow over the years, but here’s a great start. Have you been to any of these? Let me know!

7 Local Dog-Friendly Breweries in South Bay LA

Monkish Brewing Co. - Torrance

This brewery has a very relaxed atmosphere tucked away in an area with mostly warehouses and office buildings. It’s conveniently located within walking distance of Hermosa Brewing Company Torrance, Cellador Ales, and Smog City Brewing Co.(which is next up on my list below). These breweries are all dog-friendly and within less than a 10-minute walk from each other. If you want to enjoy a casual afternoon hopping around different breweries with your dog, this is the place to come!

Smog City Brewing Co. - Torrance

This beer is for sale at many of the local grocery stores and is known for its fun can art and, obviously, its amazing quality. The brewery itself has a large outdoor patio area and some seating inside as well, which is all dog-friendly. There are great food trucks that come here most days, and the calendar of events happening at this brewery is packed with all sorts of fun stuff. We love starting out at Monkish and then walking over to this brewery for dinner and a beer with Arwen (our husky mix who loves to give sass to everybody she meets at the breweries, and then get pets from them).

Culture Brewing - Manhattan Beach

Located in the heart of Manhattan Beach, Culture Brewing is the perfect spot if you have a super social dog who loves making new furry and human friends - that type of dog will be in absolute heaven here!

This spot is always packed with dogs and their people. If you have a dog that is a little shy, I do not advise taking them here. Even our dog, who is usually comfortable in crowded settings, feels uncomfortable being here sometimes because of how many dogs there are. Take a look at the next brewery on my list if you have a shy dog; that one is perfect for shy dogs and a great place for working on socializing your dog.

More about this brewery before we go to the next one is that the beer is great, and sometimes they have food ordering options. Even if they don’t have food ordering options when you go, there are so many restaurants in the area that you could go to first or after for food. One that I can think of now that’s also dog-friendly is Simmzy’s, which is a couple of doors down. If you don’t have a dog yet and are looking to adopt a dog, Wags and Walks often hosts adoption events at this brewery - they always have cute puppies looking for loving homes.

Brouwerij West - San Pedro

This might be the only restaurant-type place that we are able to take our reactive dog to because of how big of a spot this is.  Brouwerij West's outdoor patio is huge, definitely the largest outdoor patio in the South Bay that I’m aware of - (if you find a bigger one, let me know)! This allows you to create space from other dogs if you have a shy or reactive dog and is a great place to work with your dogs on getting them to feel more comfortable in these types of environments. Make sure to bring lots of treats to help them have a positive experience!

There are usually food trucks here to grab food from, and the beer is great. Sometimes there are events here as well such as live music. If you don’t need to create space with your dog, the inside of the building here has a great vibe!

Common Space Brewery - Hawthorne

You might see me here at Common Space Brewery if you decide to go to their Tuesday night trivia. I enjoy meeting up with my friends who live in the area here with their dog. Trivia nights are very popular, and I don’t usually bring my dog because there’s a bit too much noise for her comfort. I haven’t yet been here for anything other than trivia night, but I would think that it would be a little calmer. The outdoor and indoor space is large, and there’s usually a food truck. Tables are situated close together and this might not be the best place to take a dog that isn’t very social depending on how crowded it is. The best part is if you come here and it’s too crowded for your dog’s comfort you can go right across the street to the next brewery on my list that has a lot more open space.

Los Angeles Ale Works - Brewery & Tasting Room - Hawthorne

This is located right across the street from Common Space Brewery. I’ve been enjoying Los Angeles Ale Works canned beer that I purchase at my local grocery store for several years. Their can art is really fun and features cats on several of them. I finally had the chance to go here recently and the beer is even better in the tap room. Something about draft beer is just so much better than canned beer in my opinion. The outdoor space here is large and a great spot to take even less social dogs. The indoor space is a bit cozier and it also allows dogs. The brewery usually has food trucks and shows their food truck schedule on their website. I love the vibe and the beer here!

Far Field Beer Company

This brewery is located in Lawndale and often has food trucks available if you want more than just beer. The food truck schedule for this spot is located on their website if you want to check it out ahead of time. I haven’t actually been to this brewery myself yet, but I plan on going soon. It was highly recommended to me by the parents of the black dog featured in the Los Angeles Ale Works photos shown above this. They also told me that this is a very dog friendly spot that they often take their dog to. There’s seating inside and outside. I’m looking forward to checking it out!

Five Point Five Brewing Company - El Segundo

Located in downtown El Segundo, Five Point Five Brewing Company has a relaxed vibe with an inside seating area and outdoor patio. Dogs are allowed both inside and outside. I’ve been here several times for various occasions and learned that you can actually rent out the outdoor area for events - my friend hosted her baby shower here, and it was a big hit. I’ve never seen this spot overly crowded and have had a nice time with my dog every time I’ve taken her here. I’d recommend this to any dog parent looking to have dinner (specifically pizza - that’s what they serve here) and a beer with their best bud.

South Bay LA Dog-Friendly Breweries

Writing this blog has made me thirsty.

If I know they’ll be comfortable, I love being able to take my girls to a dog-friendly brewery for a fun afternoon or evening out. We’re lucky to have so many dog-friendly options so close. Not all dogs love going out to breweries and restaurants, and to find out if your dog actually does enjoy these activities, give this article a read.

If there are any breweries that I missed, please let me know! If you end up checking any of these out because of this blog, I’d love it if you’d tag me on any social media posts @doginspiredphotography
