How We Photograph the Perfect Portrait of Your Dog

There’s nothing like looking at the perfect portrait of your dog! My girls, Luna and Arwen, are my everything. They are so much more than my dogs; they are my best friends. I became an LA pet photographer so that I could capture their beauty and unique personalities in every image I take of them. The absolute joy these images bring me can hardly be put into words. That’s why I aim to share the same joy with my fellow pet parents like you!

So, how do I capture the perfect pet portrait of your dog? I will tell you!

Custom Tailored Pet Photo Sessions

Each pet photo session is as unique as your pet! Together, we’ll plan a session that’s perfect for your family. We’ll choose a location that is meaningful to you. Before the session, we’ll talk about any needs or concerns you have about your dog. I’m happy to help with them all. If you’re worried about your dog sitting and staying, high energy dogs, reactive dogs, and anything in between. I’ve worked with it all and still produced incredible images. You’re welcome to schedule a no-pressure, zero-judgment intro call with me anytime to chat about your pets. Every pet parent deserves professional pet portraits they’ll treasure forever.

Learning Every Trick in the Book

Speaking of getting the perfect shot of your pets! How do I do it? My girls inspired me to learn all that I can about dog behavior and communication. (If you haven’t yet, feel free to read the story of my dog, Luna, here.) I’ve read books, taken classes, you name it. Between my experience, education, and my numerous animal calls and treats, I’m positive I can get the perfect portraits and candids of your beloved dogs. I have another trick up my sleeve that happens after the session.

Pet Portrait Photoshop Magic

Did you know that most of the dog portraits you see on my website and social media are edited to remove a leash and/or a person? Yep! For your dog’s safety, I typically recommend they wear a leash during the photo session. Depending on the shot, I also might have a human (you) guiding your dog. After the photo session, I go through the images and use Photoshop magic to edit all that out so you’re left with a breathtaking image of your dog!

Creating Artwork with Your Pet’s Portrait

Okay, now we’ve captured amazing portraits of your dog. Now what? Well, now is the best part! After the session, we’ll meet again to have your image reveal appointment! We’ll soak in every image from our day together while you choose your favorites. After you’ve chosen your favorites, I’ll create custom, professional portrait artwork for you to treasure. We can create custom wall art you can see every time you walk into a room or an album of images you can hold in your hands.
